A former teacher of mine would sometimes end his class with christian encouragement to “Press on!” Life may weigh me down, but I am called to look up and continue. I may be tempted to focus on the past and become discouraged, but that won’t help my journey upwards. The past may be hurtful, but it can either cause me to slip or become a helpful stepping stone to boost me forward. In Christ, I choose to use it for assistance in the climb.
. Also, I shouldn’t worry about any hurtful stumbles in the future, because I trust in my climbing partner Jesus, who will bear me up when I fall. He traversed this mountain before so he knows the path up, I only need to listen to his guidance. When I don’t, I’m the only one responsible for the pain I incur. When this happens, I go to Jesus who will take care of my wounds.
I may have a ways to go up the mountain to my heavenly home, but I will press on despite the difficulties of the climb, because Jesus will always be with me.
“I press on towards the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:14
James
I like what you have to say. Really good to remember.
